Lotus Petal Yoga

Hala = Plow; Asana = Posture

Lying on the mat, arms are placed at the sides of the torso, palms face down. Shoulders are relaxed away from the ears. Legs are lifted into the air at a 900 angle. Hands are placed under the backs of the hips. Elbows are pressed into the earth. Hands support the pelvis as the hips roll up off the earth. Toes drop towards the earth beyond the head while the spine remains in a neutral and non rounded position. Shoulders are pressed into the floor. Pelvis is pressed forward to create space across the front of the abdomen and in the front of the ribs. Quadriceps are contracted, hamstrings stretched. Elbows are brought together until the upper arms are parallel to each other to provide support for the back. Arms can be interlaced behind the back if toes touch the floor, otherwise, hands remain on the lower back for support.

  • reverses the position of all the organs, regulating their function
  • massages the kidneys, adrenal glands, diaphragm, and all of the abdominal organs
  • massages thyroid and thymus
