Vasistha = A sage; Asana = Posture

From plank pose, one hand in planted in the center directly under the chest. The torso is rotated such that one hip is stacked on top of the other and one foot is stacked on top of the other. Feet are flexed. Body is lengthened from the feet to the crown of the head. A vertical axis of energy is created through the arms as the non supportive hand reaches towards the sky. Shoulder joints are hugged firmly around the upper arm bones. Modifications of this posture include dropping to the bottom knee for support, or lifting the top leg.

Benefits of the posture:

  • strengthens the shoulder girdle
  • increases abdominal strength
  • firms and tones entire body
