Lotus Petal Yoga

Ardha = half; Kurma = Tortoise; Asana = Posture

Starting from a kneeling position, the tops of the feet are pressed firmly into the mat. Arms reach overhead, palms touch, thumbs cross. Torso is lifted up and out of the waist to start. The body then hinges forward over the legs. Hips remain in contact with the heels. The forehead touches the mat and the pinky side edge of the hands touches the mat. The arms are lifted and engaged, not resting on the floor. Knees, lower legs and tops of the feet are actively pressed into the earth.

Benefits of the posture:

  • massages the abdominal area
  • tractions and lengthens the spine
  • brings maximum flexion to the spine which relaxes and rejuvenates the entire body especially the nervous system
  • massages and regenerates kidneys and adrenal glands massages thyroid and parathyroid
