Utka = Fierce, powerful; Asana = Posture

Toes are touching heels spread an inch apart. Weight is in the heels. Knees are bent. All muscles of the legs are strong and engaged. Quadriceps and inner thighs are squeezed together. Arms are lifted to shoulder height or above the head. Belly button is drawn in towards the spine. Rib cage is drawn slightly back. Chin is parallel to the earth, shoulders are drawn down and back.

Benefits of the posture:

  • strengthens and supports all the major joints in the body
  • develops core strength
  • massages abdominal organs
