YOGA NIDRASANA (HAPPY BABY / DEAD BUG)
Yoganidra = Conscious yogic sleep; Asana = Posture
From a supine position, arms are relaxed and shoulders move down and away from the ears. On an exhale, knees are drawn to the chest. Arms are brought through the space between the legs to clasp the soles of the feet from the inside. Arms pull the legs down towards the mat. Low back and pelvis are grounded into the earth and the entire spine rests flat on the floor. Gaze is straight upward; shoulders are relaxed down away from the ears. If entire spine does not rest on the mat, the toes can be clasped instead of the soles of the feet to gain more length.
Benefits of the posture:
- provides powerful opening for the hips and groin
- massages reproductive system
- stimulates immune function through the opening of the lymph nodes in the groin
- opens shoulders and the space between the shoulder blades
